For as long as she can remember, music has been a constant in Katelyn Mann’s life. Whether it’s just fun parodies with her sister or originals posted to her Instagram, songwriting has brought her comfort in life.
“Songwriting has really helped me with issues that I’ve gone through in life and it helps me work through the emotions and put them into words in ways I couldn’t otherwise,” Mann said.
To aid in her songwriting, Mann has learned the ukulele, guitar and is currently teaching herself bass guitar.
“Music is something that has always been there,” Mann said.
Her favorite artist’s songs inspire her to continue her music career and Mann finds a connection in their lyrics.
“I love Taylor Swift, Conan Grey, Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzie McAlpine, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde and Gracie Abrams,” Mann said. “They’re all really good storytellers and their music is really poetic, kind of like an Emily Dickenson poem. They flow but also let you in on these really deep emotions and storylines.”
