The men’s lacrosse team is looking to make big things happen this season. They started off strong with a 16 goal average throughout their first six games with a record of 6-0.This is the product of great leaders, coaching, and dedication.

Coach John Fernandez named senior defenseman, Brendan Sheehan, senior midfielder Drew Begin, and junior midfielder Ryan Finley as captains. These captains have shown great leadership which attributes to the team’s overall success.

“I would also like to recognize the seniors as they are the leaders of the team,” said Coach Fernandez

Fernandez talked about how there is always room for improvement, in all aspects of the game. One thing he pointed out in particular was team chemistry, and no team is perfect, even on the professional level.

“There is always room for improvement in all aspects of the game,” said Fernandez. We will continue to work hard on improving the little things, to make the big things happen. The team will continue to work on mastering the fundamentals and building chemistry in all phases of the game.”

As a senior who has been on the team since freshman year, Begin recognized the monumental success and improvement of the offense.

“This is the best I’ve seen our offense move the ball in all four years I’ve played lacrosse here,” said Begin.

An aspect that greatly contributes to a team’s success is chemistry.

“It’s all about that chemistry, chemistry, chemistry,” said junior defender, Sam Groce. “We all love each other so much.”

On a daily basis, Coach Fernandez references a quote Vince Lombardi, an American football player, coach and executive, once said.

“Individual commitment to a group effort,” said Lombardi. “That is what makes a team work, a society work, a civilization work.”

The team is really blending together. They move together, and help out each other if someone’s beat on the field.

“If we can continue to play at the level we are I think that we can make something happen when the playoffs come,” said Sheehan.

The team is prepared to face every team in the conference head on this season.

“We look forward to every game on the schedule,” said Coach Fernandez, “especially our conference games.”

Fernandez has a great program on his hands. The team has the potential to go far this season.

“We hope to remain confident yet humble throughout the season,” said Fernandez, “I would like to continue to work hard and improve as a team while maintaining our focus one game at a time.”
