Dog collects plastic bottles to bring awareness to environmental issues

One dog in England has been utilizing his time on walks for one interesting cause: recycling. The thirteen-year-old border collie, Scruff, lives in the town of Nuneaton with his humans Yvonne Faulkner-Grant and husband David Grant.

Scruff doesn’t let his age get the best of him; he recently has taken up the task of collecting plastic bottles he finds along his walks.

Scruff typically goes on two walks a day; one in the morning, usually between three to four miles, and then a shorter walk in the evening. Throughout these walks, he collects a multitude of plastic bottles.

When Scruff first began picking up plastic bottles, his owners would usually attempt to pry the bottles from him before throwing them away. But after many failed attempts, owner Faulkner-Grant decided to make use of Scruff’s clever habit.

As of January 2023, Scruff is still collecting plastic bottles one day at a time, and in turn, making the world a better place.
