Healthy recipes to start off 2021
This is usually the time of year where we all make or share our New Year’s Resolutions, mostly when it comes to eating healthier and working out more often. 2020 was the year when just having something to eat on the table was good enough for us. Now that it’s 2021 we need to focus more on taking care of ourselves the right way instead of just winging it. This doesn’t mean that you need to start some FAD diets or go into insane restrictions. It’s better to call it a ‘meal-plan’ than a ‘diet’ which helps make the guilt factor decline. You don’t even need to cut out your favorite treats because you can totally find a healthier version that is just as good as the original.
Healthier Honey Sesame Chicken:
Chinese food is almost something everyone craves from time to time. While many Chinese favorites are high in calories, fat, and sodium, you can find healthy options to meet your nutritional needs.
Homemade Microwave Popcorn:
You do not have to get this fancy to start your healthy eating journey. This is just an interesting thing to try and do, and it makes you seem cooler because you’re going the extra mile for popcorn.
Oven-Baked Salmon:
Salmon is rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids, a Great Source of Protein, and High in B Vitamins. A major benefit of salmon is that you can cook it any way you want to. You can use lemon, garlic, paprika, any seasoning combination that you can think of.
Sweet and Silky Strawberry Sorbet:
See, you can eat healthily and eat sweets at the same time. Sorbet is s a frozen dessert made from sugar-sweetened water with flavoring which is typically fruit juice. Dietitians will tell you that regular fruits are better than fruit juices but it just depends on what you buy and how often you eat it.
Spaghetti Diablo with Shrimp:
Usually, fitness influencers on social media talk about how carbs are bad for you. Actually, that’s not true at all. Carbohydrates provide the body with glucose, which is then turned to energy used to support bodily functions and physical activity.
Quinoa Side Dish:
Quinoa is better for you than Rice because even though it has a higher number of carbs, it’s a higher number of healthier carbs. Quinoa is known as a ‘super-seed’ and has more vitamins and nutrients than rice.
Spinach and Feta Omlette
Eggs are a basic food that dietitians may tell you to eat because they have protein and healthy fats. However, this version is way better than regular eggs and you can even add more to it such as bacon, and sausage.
Fruit Salad:
People will try to tell you not to eat fruit because of the sugars and how it can be high in carbohydrates. Don’t worry about that, fruits are very good for you because of all the nutrients they contain. Fruit Salads are very easy to make especially since you can use any of the fruits you like and just throw them in a bowl and then eat it while watching your favorite show on t.v. because you deserve it.
Spinach Brownies:
Don’t let the word ‘spinach’ throw you off, you probably won’t even taste it because the cocoa and spices will cover it up. These brownies are better for you than regular brownies you would buy in the store. However, if you don’t like these don’t feel guilty about eating regular brownies because moderation is key.
