Ten iconic Halloween costumes that never go out of style

With Halloween right around the corner, it’s time to plan out those comedic, nostalgic and stunning costumes for this spooky season. Whether you’re bursting with ideas or struggling to find any, this spooktacular list will inspire you.

  1. We’re starting our list off with the iconic duo from “Clueless”: Dionne and Cher. This costume takes the first spot for its unique looks compared to those of many movies that came out in the 1990s or early 2000s. You could wear this costume at any age, as it is a timeless outfit and movie. The best feature about this costume is that you can customize it to your imagination.
  2. Second on our list is Barbie. With the recent popularity of the “Barbie” movie, a lot of people will be dressing up as the iconic doll. Barbie is a great idea for a costume, because of her vast portfolio of iconic looks. Since she has so many designs, you can be a cowgirl Barbie, sporty Barbie, movie Barbie, disco Barbie and so much more. Not to mention, the recent “Barbie” film featured a very diverse cast, pushing the idea that anybody can be a Barbie, and that is my favorite part of the costume.
  3. “Mean Girls” is another memorable movie with some amazing costume designs. Whether you decide to go as a group or alone, you are bound to get recognized as a character from this classic comedy. With the designs from the movie, there are two options you can choose from. The Christmas talent show look where they wore a red tank top with fur on the top, a leather red skirt with fur at the bottom, and a black belt. Another costume idea is dressing up in a pink shirt with a black skirt or jeans for the scene when they go to the mall.
  4. Next up for a more scary costume, we have Jigsaw from the movie “Saw.” With the recent release of the new movie, “Saw X,” I can see a lot of people loving this spooky costume. Whether you go all out and ride around on Jigsaws’ signature bike or dress to impress in Jigsaws’ signature outfit, it is a simple, yet scary costume that will get compliments and maybe even scare a few children.
  5. With the immensely successful TV show “Wednesday” coming out this past year, people are eager to dress up as the classic broody teenager, Wednesday Addams. She is an iconic character with her striking braids, pale skin, and black wardrobe. And if you ever wanted to dress up as a duo, someone can be Enid, her best friend from the Tim Burton show. Enid is the complete opposite of Wednesday, with colorful and bright clothes. The common theme of color with her is pink. Her outfits tend to be dresses or long sweaters with the same bright, or patterned clothes.
  6. With the Eras Tour coming to an end, Taylor Swift may be a popular costume this year. Many people adore her, and her iconic outfits. The costumes don’t have to cost a lot of money, as you could find items for them in your closet or at a local thrift store. An example would be if you were going to do a costume from her “Fearless” era, and you could wear a shimmery dress and boots. Another option is her “Speak Now” era, in which you can wear a big long dress.
  7. Next up is Kim Kardashian’s look as “Mystique” from “Avatar”: in 2022. This costume was amazing, and she went above and beyond from the makeup to the latex costume. This look shows dedication and although Kim spent a pretty penny on this outfit, you can definitely recreate this look in a budget-friendly way. This look can be recreated with blue face paint, yellow contacts, a red wig, or if you’re committed, dye your hair red. The more detailed options for the texture are some clay to get the shape you’d like, gems, or rocks. Lastly, a latex bodysuit can be found on Amazon Latex Bodysuit.
  8. Taking it back to 1976, the movie “Carrie” spooked audiences with the main character’s iconic bloody prom dress. Carrie has a prom queen sash and a crown, all covered in blood. All you need for this costume is some fake blood and a pink dress you don’t care to ruin, making it another easy and affordable costume.
  9. Another timeless costume is another famous duo, Mario and Luigi. Of course, you can dress up as either, but both looks are iconic. You can dress up as them at any age, and they will probably exist in our minds forever. Most people grew up playing the Mario and Luigi games and watching the recent movie, “The Super Mario Bros.”
  10. Lastly, we have Miles Morales from “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Many people cosplay like him, and you only need to buy a suit for this costume. Many people love Spider-Man, especially with the release of this animated version. You can also be Gwen Stacy. She wears white, black, pink, and blue. This would be a perfect costume for a couple or friends.

With that being said, I hope these ideas will inspire you this spooky season. Don’t forget to go out and get your scare on!
