Cinnamon Sugar Donuts with Cream Cheese Filling

  • 2.25 cups of warm water
  • 1/4 cup and 3 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp of salt
  • 2 packages of cream cheese (or more if you need it)
  • One Egg
  • tbsp of Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar


Part 1 – Start by making your yeast mixture

  • 2.25 cups of warm water
  • 3tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp of brown sugar

Mix lightly and set to the side for 10 minutes

Part 2 – Make your dough

  • 5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp of salt

Add the yeast mixture in last and knead the dough for 10 minutes (or until dough forms)

Part 3 – Creating the donut balls

  • Add the dough to a floured surface and create mini dough balls

Let them rest for 10 minutes

Part 4 – Rolling your cream cheese

  • Take the cream cheese and cut them to size to fit inside of the donuts
  • Stuff the cream cheese into the dough

Make sure to pinch them tightly so they don’t open as you boil them

Let them rest for another 30 minutes

Part 5 – Boiling your donuts

  • Boil the donuts in a pot of water (I used 4 cups) and 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • Boil them for 30 seconds on each side
  • Add them to a prepared baking dish
  • Brush them with egg wash
  • Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Take them out and brush them with melted butter
  • Coat them in a cinnamon-sugar mix
