Why Kay Hagan is the preeminent candidate for North Carolina

Many of Kay Hagan’s views make her the top candidate for the 2014 senatorial election. This year, Kay Hagan is running to represent North Carolina in the United States Senate. With less than a month to Election Day, these are some of Kay Hagan’s top views on issues that are dire and pressing matters in our community today.

The first top issue she addresses is military and veterans. She proposes better pay for service members, and increased funding for veteran’s health care and benefits, Hagan’s official website reports. Jobs and the economy are Hagan’s number one priority. This has been an ongoing issue among our society and economy. Veterans are often left homeless and with terrible healthcare benefits, and this should be a priority for Hagan.

Her second issue covered is abortion. She wants to make abortion safe, legal, and rare, and focuses on prevented pregnancies, plus emergency contraception. In today’s day and age, these are very important and pertinent issues. The use of contraception can prevent the need for abortion and stop many emotionally and physically detrimental situations. She also supports taxpayer funded abortion and late term abortion. She further empowers the Obama Administration to mandate health coverage of the abortion pill, surgical abortion, or “preventative services.”

Her third and final top issue is ethical and social issues. She prohibits sexual-identity discrimination at schools. This is a crucial matter in recent years, with bullying being a more common than ever. Also, she wants to enforce against anti-age discrimination in public schools. Hagan enforces against wage discrimination based on gender, another ongoing issue in society where women are often underpaid in comparison to what men are paid. There are many reasons Thom Tillis is detrimental to the youth of North Carolina. First of all, he isn’t even originally from North Carolina. Kay Hagan, a resident of North Carolina since birth, truly understands the needs and values of the state. He is also pro-life, which counters all of Hagan’s views. According to his official website, he wants to reverse all pro-abortion policies, undermining the needs of our modern society.

In conclusion, Thom Tillis is inferior, unacceptable, and unfit to represent the residents of North Carolina. For our younger votes, it’s clear that Kay Hagan is the obvious choice.
