Rihanna’s long anticipated album
ANTI
Rihanna, a well known and popular singer, has just released her eighth album titled ANTI. Many fans were excited to listen to the highly anticipated album especially when she released “Work,” the upbeat song that features rapper Drake and a taste of her native Caribbean language, Creole, which many critics claim to call “gibberish.” Rihanna went in a new direction for this album, taking a long break to create such an album.
The cover art for “ANTI” has a little girl, Rihanna, holding a balloon and wearing a crown over her face with a red and white background. According to Vanity Fair, the album is also covered in braille that says “If They Let Us, Part I.” The cover art does a great job, as the listener not only looks at the art, experience it.
The first song “Consideration” starts with Rihanna singing with the featured artist SZA. With the slow and easy-going back beat to the song, it really gets you into the mood of hearing more from her album. Many of the songs in this album follow the same welcoming pattern. This album’s songs are not ones that you would hear at a party, but are ones that you would enjoy to listen to intently. “ANTI” does an amazing job of taking a more jazzy approach with modern themes.
In some songs, such as “Higher,” Rihanna uses a late 1950s, early 1960s musical beat. These songs do a great job of showing Rihanna’s vocal ability. Whereas songs like “Pose” and “Work” are just fun to listen and dance to. Rihanna also uses songs, such as “Close To You,” to take the lyrics to another level.
In general, because Rihanna is taking the time to complete this album and all the aspects that go with it, “ANTI” has such an angelic touch to it. “ANTI” is an album that will make you look at Rihanna in a different light because of the higher level of talent that is witnessed.
