Bruno Mars, in the past couple years, has truly taken over pop culture through his singles, “Die With A Smile” with Lady Gaga and “APT” with Rosé. He has been on the musical market for a long time, releasing many timeless hits that we have all known and loved throughout the years. “The Romantic” was released on Feb. 27, 2026, and is an album full of love and heartbreak —emotions that we often relate to. The album as a whole debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which is a big accomplishment for an artist. I will be ranking each song from least favorite to absolute favorite.
- “Nothing Left”
I chose to put this song as my least favorite because I honestly have not listened to it that much. It is not a bad song, but it is not a song that draws me in from this album. It has a good beat and builds up to it, which makes a good Bruno Mars song. “Nothing Left” conveys a way of longing for someone and feels like you are losing them.
- “On My Soul”
This song was a great song to listen to that I connected with the first time I listened to it, but it became more and more repetitive. It just did not end up being my cup of tea. The song overall has a nice R&B, soul feel, and it is one of the most upbeat songs from the album. Even though, it was not my favorite song, it made me want to dance the whole time.
- “Risk It All”
This was one of the most popular songs on the album, and the public were not wrong when they said that this song was really amazing. This one feels “romantic” and carries a slower tone. The music video to this song was really sweet because it is showcasing a wedding. It illustrated all of those fuzzy, happy feelings that love really brings.
- “Something Serious”
I really enjoyed listening to this song for the first time. It brings a unique upbeat feeling to the song that we do not see much in other modern music. It includes a lot of drums and different acoustic instruments. Even though I really liked it, I do not really listen to it enough to be in the top five.
- “I Just Might”
This was the number one single from the album, and it was the perfect choice. This song has the right amount of style and catchyness that goes along with creating a top hit. You can hear this song all over radio stations and social media. It was an exciting way to introduce the new era Bruno Mars is stepping into.
- “Dance With Me”
This is the perfect song to use as the first dance at a wedding. It is slow and romantic, fostering feelings of love and fondness. This one was high up on my list because I instantly connected with it when I first heard it. I love slow songs, so “Dance With Me” was an ideal addition to my playlists.
- “Why You Wanna Fight?”
Though it is a pretty sad song, you can find a way to vibe along to the beat of “Why You Wanna Fight?”. I can say that this song is a perfect song to listen to in the car on a cloudy, rainy day. This was in the top three because it goes perfectly with my music taste. It has the sort of music style that leaves you a little sad, but has a groove to it too.
- “God Was Showing Off”
This song was one of my favorites from the album, which is why it is at number two. It has a good upbeat feel that leaves you wanting to dance. The meaning of the song is really sweet because he is complementing his partner, saying that God was showing off his skills making her. It was just a really good song, and it brought out the real Bruno in such an exceptional way.
- “Cha Cha Cha”
Prove me wrong, but this song is the best on the album because it is not too fast or too slow; it has the perfect tempo. You can either relax to the slowness of the song or dance along to the added upbeat acoustics. I find myself playing “Cha Cha Cha” over and over again in the car.
Overall, the album was a success that produced some awesome hits. The popularity of “I Just Might” added to the anticipation of the album. It was an exciting way of introducing us to the world of “The Romantic.” This album will definitely be a contender for best album of the year.
