Pete the Cat and the magic sunglasses

Pete the Cat and his Magical Sunglasses is a delightful tale of a cat on his way to find happiness. This story is completely relevant to people of all ages, not just children! The moral of children’s stories are more applicable to adults, often because grownups forget the little life lessons that are so important.
Kimberly and James Dean, the authors, use a pair of “magic” sunglasses to symbolize perspective. Pete was sad before he had these glasses. Perspective, especially in American society, is often lost. Everyone is so engrossed in their own narcissistic worlds they forget about the bigger picture. This story encourages the reader to look at the bigger picture . It makes one look at their problems and see that they are not so bad after all! The light peeks through the what once seemed to be dark situation.
The Deans use different animals to represent different kinds of personalities and problems. It is a creative way to showcase how every type of personality can find perspective and happiness. The only big issue with the book was their lack of originality in choosing an owl as the stereotypical wise character. The book was an enlightening and such a quick read. It was a greatly effective piece of literature.
