AJR: Adam Jack Ryan

Have you ever listened to indie pop alternative dubstep?  Neither did I until my friend showed me a song called “Bud Like You” by AJR. AJR became popular this year but has been around since their first album released in 2015. Songs like “Weak”, “Sober Up” and “Burn The House Down” were some of their hits from the album The Click this year.

AJR stands for Adam, Jack and Ryan, the three brothers who work together to come up with new lyrics and themes behind songs that no one has heard before. AJR is a really cool band because they are raw and genuine when writing. A song that they wrote called “It’s On Us” was a part of the It’s On Us campaign. This campaign is where men take the blame for women not feeling safe in the world and saying that men need to work to make females feel safe in society. Songs like these make me fall in love with AJR, they are not afraid to speak out about topics like the It’s On Us Campaign. Artists have this amazing platform to spread awareness to everyone, so the fact that they are taking advantage of that makes me very happy.

AJR are great influencers because they promote being yourself completely, they embody self-acceptance down to the way that they dance. Just watch the music video to “Weak”! The way Adam dances really shows he is not afraid to put himself out there as an artist.

AJR became so popular this year they had to do a Click Tour Part 2, because so many people did not get the chance to see their first tour. Not only did they do a second tour, but they also rented out bigger venues and made more stops. I got the chance to go to their performance here in Raleigh at the Ritz, I had an amazing time. They really know how to put on a show! I cried twice because they just make me so happy. Seeing them on stage singing for their fans, anyone can see that it is their dream, and they have finally reached it.

Adam, Jack and Ryan have built an amazing platform for themselves this year, climbing the music charts and gaining an amazing fan base. This is just the start of their careers and I can not wait to see what kind of unique albums are going to be released next.
