Tana Mongeau

Tana Mongeau is a YouTuber who has created a name for herself for being an outrageous and risky 19 year old. With over 2.8 million subscribers, Mongeau has come a long way in her career this year in releasing an original song and music video titled Hefner. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, Mongeau had a difficult childhood. She often fought with her parents and at one point had a stalker who continuously threatened her life.

I name her one of the people to watch this year because of her ability to make a name for herself despite her difficult circumstances in her early life. Through her success in the YouTube industry, she has been able to live a better life. Earlier this year, Mongeau was arrested during Coachella on alleged charges of possession of alcohol and underage drinking. She persisted that she was completely sober upon the arrest and the charges were later settled in court. This controversy only further contributed to Mongeau’s success as she created shirts out of her mugshots and turned the situation into one big misunderstanding.

She continues to grow her channel and defend her name against all those who try to tarnish it. As Mongeau’s song goes “Got my name in all your mouth, yeah your tweet just gave me clout,” and that’s exactly what she will continue to do. She will continue to do what she wants and not worry what the media thinks of her. Her number one priority is to continue to grow her fan base and remaining true to herself.
