Best Hijabi and Modest Fashion Trends

Similar to regular fashion, the small culture of modest fashion also had fashion trends throughout the year. These trends are usually inspired by style in the mainstream fashion industry, but customized to fit the needs of modest dressers. People who follow modest fashion know how to maneuver around certain fashion trends, and how to create similar looks that follow their opinions in fashion. While modest fashion was influenced a lot by mainstream fashion this year, in reverse, a great deal of non-modest fashion companies were inspired by modest fashion trends.

One of the first trends to go around in 2017 was crinkle hijabs (or scarves). Starting off with just a simple cotton material in almost every color, you could find crinkle hijabs at almost every company which sells hijabs. The trend later grew to other materials and on designed cloth. Similar to crinkle hijabs was the trend of lace hijabs. The simple design of lace hijabs has a lace border on the sides of the material, but some designs had a long lace material at the end of one side of the scarf. The ideas grew as more companies caught on to the elegant design. Alongside the trend of lace hijabs, the trend of embroidered clothing came back into style. The trend flooded into hijab styles too, and hijabs with embroidery designs became the next social standard. Some designers were daring enough to mix the crinkle hijab style with embroidery also. Essentially, this year was a comeback for all styles of soft material hijabs.

Having been a big year for a switch in scarves, not many clothing trends went around. Though, one clothing style that trended big this year was long kimonos. The trend started out with long, printed kimonos which evolved into many different styles by countless companies. Most modest dressers began wearing differently designed kimonos during the spring this year, over long dresses, or paired with a skirt or a pair of jeans. Usually of a printed chiffon material and matched with a solid colored crinkle scarf with a pair of lace-up heels or short boots- a myriad of styles could be worn with kimonos.

From lace to pearls and long, flowing kimonos- this year seemed to be a year for elegant and impressionable styles in the modest fashion industry. It’s a wonder what other creative styles will accompany the new year but expect crinkle, lace and embroidery designs and kimonos to still be a staple in almost every fashionista’s closet this spring and summer.
