Bojack Horseman

Bojack Horseman is a true trailblazer of modern television– a crude, vulgar, and pragmatic cartoon set in a universe where animals and humans are socially equal. The show, featuring a washed-up, alcoholic, former TV celebrity horse named Bojack Horseman, does an impeccable job tackling social issues and crafting diverse characters. Bojack’s counterpart, a lazy but lovable man named Todd, depicts the struggle of coming to terms with being asexual and the confusion that comes along with this realization. Princess Carolyn, a bright pink, defiant, workaholic cat depicts a modern woman displaying ideals of feminism and overcoming setbacks in love and in the workplace.

Through these and many other vibrant characters, Bojack Horseman is able to precisely mimic the downfalls of American society– through a fantasy world of bright colors, walking creatures, Hollywoo(d) stars, and a colorful soundtrack, utilizing artists like Death Grips, Nina Simone, The Rolling Stones, and more music of its own. Bojack Horseman is the perfect mix of comedy, sarcasm, political relevance and romance– a knockout combination that is hard to beat.
