Shawn Mendes

On June 27, Shawn Mendes set off his Wonder World Tour. Just a month later, he announced in a heartfelt Instagram post that he has canceled the rest of his shows to focus on his mental health. In the post, he mentioned that he “wasn’t totally prepared for the toll” that being on tour had on him. Though it was disappointing to not be able to see Mendes’ show, many fans fully supported his decision and wished him all the best.

Nowadays, Mendes has been taking a step back from fame and trying to live a normal life. He has been doing therapy, taking a break from writing music and best of all, he has been spending quality time with friends and family.

Mendes hopes that going on this much-needed break will help him come back even stronger. By ending his tour early, Mendes has also inspired people all over the world to put their mental health first, too.

That is why Mendes deserves to be one of the best people of 2022. Not because of flashy awards or new albums, but because he made the difficult decision to prioritize his mental wellness over the praise he would get on tour.
