Q: What do you teach at Wakefield and why?
A: I teach mathematics (FOM1, and 2) . While in college, I was premed and studied Chemistry and Biology. When studying Physical Chemistry, I developed a love and appreciation for Differential Equations, Probabilities and Statistics and Analytical Geometry.
Q: What does your typical work day look like?
A: I can say that for the moment, “I don’t have a typical day. I am new to Wakefield HS, new to North Carolina, and new to remote learning. The one constant is the wonderful eager learners and the passionate staff members here at Wakefield.
Q: What is the biggest challenge with online school?
A: The biggest challenge with online learning is overcoming the lack of people socialization. The small talk, the team activities, the noise, the music, … the “Aha” or Eureka moments!
Q: What is your background like?
A: As far as my background, I have taught students from grades 5th thru 13; work in both public and private schools; taught students of all levels and backgrounds. I play guitar, chess, and read poetry. I am an alumni t of Knoxville College (HBCU), my master’s studies took place at Wayne State University, Michigan State and University of Michigan.
Q: What are some crazy teaching stories you have?
A: I have some crazy teacher stories, but they would be inappropriate. Let me say that I have taught school in both Washington, DC and Detroit, Michigan.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Wakefield?
A: I love the people here at Wakefield HS!!!!
