Donald Glover

Donald Glover has been in the entertainment industry for quite a while now, but his widespread talent hasn’t been fully recognized until fairly recently. Glover began as a sitcom writer for NBC’s 30 Rock, later becoming a lead actor in another NBC show, Community. His role in Community gave him the platform of fame that he needed in order to transition his career to be focused on music. Under the stage name “Childish Gambino”, Glover released rap albums such as Camp (2011) and the Grammy-nominated Because the Internet (2013), and these albums ultimately launched him into stardom. It wasn’t until this year that the mainstream media began to pick up on his talents as a musician, actor, stand-up comedian, and writer.

This year alone, Glover has earned five Grammy nominations for his 2016 album, “Awaken, My Love!” He also won two Golden Globe awards and a Primetime Emmy award for Atlanta, an FX tv show that he created, wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. Since then, his role in an upcoming Star Wars film, as well as the star voice-actor in the live action Lion King movie have been announced. Donald Glover consistently finds ways to recreate his image in the public eye. With the success of his first two rap albums, he showed the world that he could go beyond acting and comedy, and with his role in creating Atlanta, he again exceeded the expectations of audiences. Donald Glover has proved, time after time, that artists don’t need to be held down to one form of media, and while this has been done before, Glover’s excellence across artforms has been consistently impressive and he serves as an inspiration to many other artists who want to have a diversified career.
