Athleisure

Athleisure is a fashion trend where clothes usually worn for workouts or athletic activities are worn elsewhere such as work, school or to casual activities. They include yoga pants, tights, leggings, or sweatpants worn in places like workplaces, school, or casual occasions.

Many people believe the movement took off because of the improved material of the clothes that make the garments more flexible and comfortable. The trend started with the rising popularity of yoga pants and the ability to go to multiple occasions and wear the same outfit. Especially now that society has become more health-conscious while also lackadaisical. Clothes have become more breathable, lightweight, and waterproof to deal with the demand of both functional and stylish garments.

The materials and technology of athleisure is constantly changing also; incorporating odor reducing, flexible, breathable, and more protective clothing.  Many celebrities, like Rihanna and Beyonce, also hop on the bandwagon wearing sweats, yogas, or leggings to events. I personally love athleisure and wear frequently. As an athlete, I have a lot of exercise clothing that I wear to non-exercising events. This trend is great for those who want to be comfortable and stylish at the same time.
