Created by Bill Dubuque, Ozark is a show that follows the grim and daring adventure of a financial advisor who becomes entangled in Mexican drug trade putting his wife and two children in danger. Marty Byrd, the protagonist, proves how thin of a line accountants tread between daily finance loops and cartel money laundering and shows why the American dream is within every one of our grasps; it’s just up to us to reach out and grab it.

Ozark masterfully transforms viewers’ moral codes with a season full of cringe-worthy decisions elevated by a biting soundtrack and beautiful film production. Genuine characters mixed with the flood of baggage brought in from each backstory keeps every episode alive and exciting.

This invigorating take on the saturated genre of television drama will get any audience member to search for the next season the second the first ends. Ozark is a beacon in the storm of dull writers and cookie cutter “creativity” and will hopefully serve as an example of why we should give tv dramas a chance again.
