I love beach music — every single day of my life

April 20, 2016

Blow up your beach balls and put on your shag shoes because Midtown Beach Music at North Hills is here and is in its ninth season!  Amazing bands will be playing, people from all over North Carolina will be dancing, and everyone will be having a blast!  North Hills is expecting over 125,000 people to participate throughout the upcoming warm, sunny season.

Many local vendors use this 17 week long event as a way to promote their businesses by setting up tents and hosting games for small prizes.  Many bring food trucks in to serve the large number of patrons who will be present.

“Beach Music is an event that features local bands that are on the rise in the city,” said senior, Shannon Turner.  “It is at the perfect location in the North Hills shopping center, so people can shop and eat during or before the event.”

Beach Music is known as a very versatile event that entertains everyone who is able to attend one of their many Thursday night concerts.

“It’s enjoyable because there’s something for everyone to do,” said Turner.  “Each band caters to every age group, so you’re guaranteed to know or like some songs.  It’s designed for both kids and adults to have fun.”

People of all ages have fun.  It makes attendees reminisce on the good times by hanging out with the ones they love, and listening to good music.

“Beach Music makes me want to dance, and puts a smile on my face,” said Beach Music attendee, Kimberly Little.  “It brings back memories of good times with family and friends, laughing and dancing.  Beach Music makes you feel relaxed and young.”

When asked if they would like to return to the festivities this year, everyone replied with ecstatic words and commemoration.

“I would definitely recommend it as a fun late night activity because there is such high energy,” said Turner.  “They set the courtyard up with lights and music to make sure it’s entertaining.”

Others simply feel a sense of calm when in attendance because of the environment’s aura.

“It’s enjoyable because the environment is really welcoming, fun, and laid back,” said senior, Kaylee Jacobs.

People watching is also an entertaining activity at these events.  There is always something to see that will brighten up anyone’s day.

“My favorite thing is how couples get up and dance,” said Jacobs.  “It is so adorable.”

The memories made at community gatherings such as Beach Music will last forever, even the not so great ones.

“The most memorable experience I’ve had there was when my mom fell trying to do the electric slide,” said Turner.  “I’m still cringing from embarrassment.”

Sometimes we realize that the best things happen when we least expect it.

“My favorite memory was when it started raining one time, but the band kept going, which made it even more fun and we all had a blast,” said Jacobs.
