Welcome to Safe Eats with Abby! On this first episode, I’ll show you how to make a classic winter dessert perfect for holiday get togethers.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Safe Eats with Abby! I’m Abby obviously, and I’m so excited to be creating these cooking/baking videos for you all. As implied in the title, these videos are going to consist of allergy-friendly, yet surprisingly delicious, recipes you can make for family and friends who may have food sensitivities. I myself am sensitive to gluten and dairy, so I’ve had to accommodate a lot over the years. I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and trying out some new recipes! Today, my mom will join me, and we’ll be making apple crisp. We’re using a recipe from Creations by Kara (ingredients listed below), but adding our own little touch here and there. I hope you enjoy!

  • 1 cup gluten-free oats
  • 2 cups gluten-free flour (I use King Arthur’s Gluten-Free Bread Flour)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt (my mom likes to use Margarita Salt**)
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice (I use Jamaican Gourmet)
  • 1 cup, or two sticks, vegan butter (I use Country Crock Plant Butter)
  • 4-5 Granny Smith Apples
  • 4-5 Fuji and/or Pink Lady Apple
  • Lemon juice
  • Granulated sugar
  • Additional cinnamon and allspice

**No, it does not have alcohol in it.
