The Tyrannosaurus Rex is widely regarded as the most dangerous carnivore to ever walk this earth. The Tyrannosaurus Rex, also known as the T-rex, had a skull over five feet long, and sixty sharp teeth to devour prey and become the most dangerous dinosaur of the late Cretaceous period. One thing that the T-Rex is known for, however, is its small arms, which seem ridiculous next to its ginormous skull but were very beneficial to helping the dinosaur strive in that period.
The dinosaur’s ridiculously strong jaw would clamp down on the prey, and that would do all the heavy lifting. From there, the T-rex would use its tiny arms to dig into the flesh of the prey that it attacks. It had unbelievably strong arms, and the prey probably overlooked the dinosaur’s arms, looking instead at the rest of the ginormous predator’s physique. This makes the dinosaur even more dangerous, because although people would think that the arms are fragile and pointless, they are extremely helpful, and are a key part of the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s body.
This interesting fact, although it sounds comical, can help us understand what life was like back in the late Cretaceous period, and understand just how terrifying this creature was. Its tiny, dangling arms, which often are just flailing around, can actually cause damage and was used as a powerful resource for this species. So next time you look at a picture of a t-rex, or visit a museum exhibit, realize that even though the arms look absolutely ridiculous, they still had a significant impact on the world of dinosaurs.
