Q: What is the club’s goal; what is the pride club?

A: Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds and identities to discuss and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and events, provide resources throughout the school, and promote allyship within the school community.

Q: What’s your mission statement?
Pride Club is a student-run club, which provides a safe place for students of all orientations, identities, and expressions, as well as allies/supporters, to come together to exchange experiences, learn about each other, and form friendships. Pride Club’s goal is to raise awareness about LGBTQ issues and promote acceptance in the school community. Meetings are open to anybody and everybody.

Q: What are some activities club members can expect to do this year?
We’re going to be doing a poster project, ceiling tile pride flags, pride club stickers, and more to be determined!

Q: What are some pros of joining this club?
Meeting new people from different grade levels, learning about LGBTQ topics, and working to make the school a safe environment for everyone. We will also be doing several activities/projects throughout the school year that will be student-led!

Q: When does the club currently meet? Are there any requirements to join?

We are currently meeting every Friday from 2:30-3:00, and there are no requirements to join- we are happy to have anyone and everyone that is willing to be respectful and open.

Q: What type of club member are you looking for?

We are looking for students that are open-minded and respectful towards others. You do not need to identify as LGBTQ to participate in club meetings, our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for anyone who needs it. Creating a respectful, safe, and loving environment should be the goal of every member.

Q: Is there a deadline for joining the club?

There’s no deadline for joining, you can come by whenever you are able! I hope to see everyone each week, but I understand that life can be busy!

Q: What is your favorite part of pride club?

My favorite part of the club has been getting to meet people from different grade levels and backgrounds. As an LGBTQ teacher, I know that representation and visibility are life-changing and providing a safe and supportive space for the LGBTQ community is immensely important during high school. It is beyond rewarding to see young people connect with each other and form new friendships. I have also been extremely impressed by how excited people have been to get started and start making an impact, it genuinely makes me so happy.

Q: How would you describe the club’s environment?

The club is a very welcoming place to students of all backgrounds and identities. I want my room to feel like a second home to those who need it. I am always willing to listen and provide support. I am so excited to watch the club grow and reach even more students/staff.
