KATIE ROSSINI, Assistant Principal of Instruction

Q:  What does your typical workday look like?

A:  I am the assistant principal who deals with the academics, teaching, learning, and instruction that’s going on. One of the things I do is coordinate the master schedule, working on student registration for next fall, and making sure that students are in the correct courses to graduate. Like the other assistant principals we all have students and discipline assigned and we all have apartments we overlook.

Q:  What made you want to come to Wakefield?

A:  I am moving here from Maryland, where I was working with public schools for 16 years. But I moved here to Wakefield to be closer to my family and friends and personal reasons.

Q:  What do you like most about Wakefield so far?

A:  The diversity of the school. There is every type of student here, the interests they have whether it be athletics or academics, theatre, and band. I like how there is a lot of options for the kid here to explore outside the classroom.

Q: What do you like to do outside of school?

A:  I love to travel, I have been to 26 countries. I grew up overseas in Ireland and I spent a lot of my childhood in a lot of different European countries and that kind of became an interest of mine. The most recent country I went to was Colombia and I’m hoping to go to Japan over Spring Break. I am also a big Tar Heel Carolina fan, I love Carolina sports and I love to go to sporting games.

Q:  What advice would you give to students?

A: My biggest piece of advice for high school students would be to learn to advocate for themselves and take responsibility for their own learning.
