Starting October 29th and running until Halloween is Wakefield’s annual Haunted House. This year’s theme…Hide and SHRIEK! A collection of all of your biggest childhood nightmares come true. Not only will it scare you wet in the pants but it will only cost you an affordable five dollars.

“It only takes about two weeks to put all of the construction up and make all of our ideas come to life,” said Charlotte Driscoll, third year Haunted House participant. The idea starts with the International Thespian Society president elect and grows. The brainstorming process starts at the end of each year. Mr.Orsett, Wakefield’s’ theatre teacher, had a stroke of scary genius when he presented the Hide and Shriek theme to Jade Malka, this years president elect for ITS. Malka then took it to the Drama Club. Members of drama club then pitched in ideas for different rooms. From there Malka and Public Relations and head technician, Spencer Hart, who then began to create the floor plan.

“The biggest challenge is taking it from paper to real life,” said Hart. “But, it is so rewarding to walk through it at rehearsals when it is all finished.” The pieces and parts are starting to fall together as the show readies to open.

“I went through the Haunted House when I was in middle school and I remember being genuinely scared,” said Shelby Barros, President of International Thespian Society. The actors in the Haunted House do not hold back, jumping out and really creating a tense and terrifying
atmosphere.

“A lot of people have taken time out of their days to come pitch in. It would mean a lot for people to come out and see what our hard work has created,” said Malka. So, for a cheap scare, some fun with friends, or to show some support for Wakefield Theatre Company come out to the auditorium! The Haunted House will run from October 29th through the 31st from 5:30
to 9.

“This year’s theme is Hide and Shriek,” said Barros, “So, ready or not, here we come!!”
