Chromeo – White Women

Mack Foley, Staff writer

chromeoChromeo’s White Women is their best album to date, and easily one of the most entertaining records of this year. A well balanced combination of up-beat disco tunes and slower, soul-infused tracks make it well worth listening to from beginning to end.

White Women opens up with a few feel good funky synth-pop songs like “Jealous (I Ain’t With It,)” “Come Alive,” and “Sexy Socialite” that wouldn’t feel out of place on a top-40 radio station. From there, the album takes a turn towards vulnerability and delves into relationship material with “Lost on the Way Home (feat. Solange,)” “Hard to Say No,” and “Ezra’s Interlude (feat. Ezra Koenig.)” The conclusion of the album shifts back away from susceptibility and rounds out with songs like “Old 45s” and “Fall Back 2U” that ooze cool.

The funk filled album isn’t groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, but it makes for a fun time for anyone listening. Everyone should give it a try, regardless of their preference in music. You may not be able to dance, but you’ll sure want to.
