Las Chica del Cable (Cable Girls)

Las Chica del Cable is Netflix’s first original Spanish drama series, centered around four young female switchboard operators in Madrid, Spain in the late 1920s. Season 2 was just released December 25, 2017, and is already a must-see. The show shows the society towards women during that time and how the four women juggle work, heartbreak, death, love, and womanhood.

The four main characters: Lidia/ Alba a former prostitute-turned-thief who has to steal from those she loves, Marga a sweet girl from the village thrown into the cacophonous city, Ángeles a wife and mother who is living in hell, and Carlota the rebellious daughter of a general who just wants to be treated like an adult.  The romance of the show is its forbidden gem, with pure sweet love stories along with turbulent relationships. Even the bromance between Carlos, the telephone company’s owners son and Francisco, his best friend and a part of the executives of the company as they battle to prioritize their love lifes, the company, and their friendship.

The drama of this show is palaple;  there is love drama, family drama, and workplace drama. There are lies, secrets, stealing, this show always has something brewing it is never boring. My favorite part of the show, is its dedication to the time period. The costumes of flapper and slip dresses perfectly embodied women’s fashion of the 1920s. This show in my opinion is the best drama on Netflix and is a must watch.
