Springing into new trends

Florals, shoulders, and lace, oh my!

Springing into new trends

Spring brings chipper attitudes with the anticipation of windows-rolled-down weather, budding flowers, and new clothes.  Fun new trends flourish on days when it’s sunny and 70 degrees.  Recurring favorite patterns pop back up along with new styles to liven up your closet.  In light of my excitement for warm weather, I spent some time scoping out new trends for Spring 2017.

Floral Patterns

While I was out and about, I couldn’t help but notice floral patterns everywhere.  It’s a super easy and fun trend to wear because I know for me, it puts me in a better mood.  When the Spring flowers are blooming and you’re covered in lovely pastel fabrics with flowers scattered about, it’s sure to boost your Spring spirit.  Floral patterns pair beautifully with cut off jean shorts or some ripped skinny jeans, for those days when it’s a bit chilly in the morning.  Florals can be dressed up with cute booties or wedges, but they can also be dressed in a more casual fashion with Birkenstocks or Converse.  I found this adorable floral crop top at Ivy and Leo in Cameron Village.  I chose to pair it with some of my cutoff shorts or jeans and my go to comfortable shoes- Birkenstocks.

Open-Shoulders

This trend is transitioning from the “cold-shoulders” look of the winter.  It’s such a cute trend that I find fun and flirty.  When a top or dress has open shoulders typically the sleeves are loose and flowy.  Loose, flowy tops make me feel pretty and feminine.  Open shoulders tops are open enough for you to wear a lace or strappy bralette underneath to add another girly touch.  The strappy shoulders offer unique detail and draw attention to your shoulders.  The open shoulders offer an easy range of motion, and allow you to look cute while feeling comfortable at the same time.   I found this adorable yellow open shoulder top on sale at Francesca’s, and I combined trends with this bringing back the floral trend.  This top paired well with some of my favorite lace shorts- and my open-toed fringe wedges.  This trend can be dressed up or down to suit your personal style.

Lace

Lace is a classic trend that transcends all seasons.  For spring weather, there are endless ways to incorporate lace into your wardrobe. You can make it the main focus of the outfit or layer it under a cardigan to tie an outfit together.  This lace top from Target is one of my go to Spring shirts because it is so easy to pair with comfortable jeans, but it can definitely be more formal when matched with white jeans or shorts.  I typically wear a tank top under my lace shirts, especially the one pictured.  Depending on how see through the lace is a bralette or bando can be worn instead of a tank top.  To complete this outfit, I paired the top with casual black sandals and matching beaded jewelry.  Lace adds the perfect amount of delicate detail to create a classic look.

Off the shoulder tops/embroidered details

A new trend that has become popular this year is off the shoulder tops.  Like the open shoulder trend, off the shoulder tops draw the eye to your shoulders.  This is a very flattering trend that allows you to accentuate your neck and shoulders.  With the off the shoulder look you are able to highlight your neck as well as your face when you add cool jewelry such as a choker or dramatic earrings.  Another trend that this top encompasses is the embroidered details that are popping up this season.  Embroidered details provide interesting patterns and textures to plain fabrics.  I found this top at Ivy and Leo in Cameron Village.  I stuck with a classic color scheme of red, white, and blue for this outfit.  A red beaded necklace and my Jack Rogers completed this outfit.

Velvet/blush

Velvet and the color blush are everywhere this season.  The texture of velvet brings a new look to an outfit.  It’s a comfortable material and it can bring out the edgy side of you.  It’s fun to work with velvet in various style outlets; it can be made to look very feminine with fancy heels, or it can be made a little more rugged when paired with ripped jeans or leather.  Blush is a trendy color that’s making an appearance in boutiques and throughout department stores.  It’s a great color that balances well with all skin tones.  I loved this velvet top when I found it at Belk.  I chose to put this top with my denim button-up skirt.  This top in particular had a lower neckline, so I dressed it up with a lace choker.  To complete the outfit I paired it with strappy wedge sandals.

My favorite thing to do with new trends is doing some research to see what’s popular, and then check different types of stores.  I like to hunt for the deals so I try to find boutique fashion for a good price.  If I want something special or I’m willing to splurge then I check out our local boutiques at Cameron Village and Crabtree Valley Mall.  Oftentimes I find good deals on adorable clothes at places like Belk, Francesca’s and Target.  You don’t have to break the bank to stay on trend in cute outfits.
