Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: I started subbing in 1985 through 1991 and jumped back in in 2007 – 2021 and taught art and substituted.
Q: What do you teach here at Wakefield High School?
A: I am teaching ICR, a co-teacher position, and the content is math.
Q: What made you want to become a math or art teacher?
A: I didn’t dream of being a teacher but I had art skills. I sort of had a spiritual experience so I thought about things differently. This made me want to start helping others.
Q: What did you do before Wakefield?
A: I have been substitute teaching since 2007.
Q: What do you like most about Wakefield High School?
A: The loyalty people have and how students and staff support one another.
Q: What did you do for fun in high school?
A: I liked to read and did a lot of school activities like student council, gymnastics, and track.
Q: What type of music do you like?
A: I like different kinds but my favorite is Christian and piano music.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of school?
A: Our time when we get older is taken away by responsibilities but I like gardening, cooking, and coming up with new recipes.
Q: What would you do if you weren’t a teacher?
A: I look at painting and drawing differently now, how I look at the world from an artist’s perspective. I think I would try to get back into that, even though I’d probably do something else for money.
Q: What do you want your students to take away from you and your class?
A: I want them to know that their life is important to me, and I want them to embrace their life as being important. Even if the subject I teach is not your favorite, there’s something in it that can still be helpful.
