ZACHARY GRESCH, Math Department
Q: What do you teach?
A: I’m teaching Foundations of Math II and Math II this whole semester.
Q: What made you decide to teach math?
A: Math is a skillset, so to see kids finally get that skillset is beyond awesome to me.
Q: Tell me about your educational background.
A: I have a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in high school education.
Q: What brought you to Wakefield?
A: My girlfriend and I wanted to move up here, so now we live near the Cary area. It’s an easier commute for both of us. There’s a lot more to do here [than in Lee County].
Q: What do you like most about Wakefield so far?
A: It seems like everybody is one big family here. That’s the kind of atmosphere I like most. From Lee County to here, it’s such a difference.
Q: What do you like to do outside of school?
A: Currently I’m in an old man’s softball league. Haha. I actually have to go play tonight if it’s not cancelled. I love watching sports and hanging out with my friends on the weekends. I walk my dog in the park all the time.
Q: Do you have any crazy teaching stories?
A: One time I thought I was writing with an Expo marker and it turns out I was writing with a permanent marker. That took a good half hour to get out. I was trying to erase it and all my kids were laughing at me. The next thing I knew, I couldn’t teach my lesson. I haven’t told anybody that, so now it’s going to get out!
Q: What is your advice for students taking your classes?
A: Do your work, ask questions and have fun with it! If you ever need anything, just let me know and I will be there for you.
